The DC Earned Income Tax Credit (“EITC”) campaign kicks off this Saturday, and many workers throughout our city may be eligible for this refundable credit, which can return up to several thousand dollars to working families with qualifying children who can claim the credit on their federal and DC tax returns.  DC’s EITC credit is now the most generous in the nation, and builds on the federal EITC.

The EITC has often been called one of the best social welfare programs in the nation as it rewards work and increases the purchasing power of low-income families, particularly in times like these where every dollar counts.  Too often people do not know they are eligible, so the EITC campaign helps promote outreach activities.
